○ Submission Categories
The Journal makes use of different, clearly delineated categories of submissions. The category may change during the review process. The Journal is grounded in a postdisciplinary approach, inviting positions that move beyond traded disciplinary approaches. For these approaches to be successful, they must be especially grounded in scientific rigour. Full articles are peer-reviewed, while Position Papers, Conversations and Practice Reports are reviewed by the Editors and presented to the Editorial Board.
1) Full Article
A full article ranges between 20.000 to 30.000 characters and is grounded in scientific or philosophical methodology. As a postdisciplinary journal, we invite contributors to reflect and situate their own approach at the beginning of the article. A maximum of three co-authors are allowed. Before authors are invitied to submit a full article, a short abstract (max. 500 words) is required to make the process more agile for editors and authors. After acceptance of the abstract, authors are invited to submit a full manuscript, while will be peer-reviewed in a double-blind process. The author will stay anonymous to reviewers throughout the peer review. Authors are responsible to anonymise their manuscript and materials, by removing author names, affiliations and other information that could be used to identify them.
2) Position Paper
The position paper is a shorter form of article ranging between 6.000 to 10.000 characters that allows more poignant positions allowing the reaction to current discourse and upcoming developments. Position paper should be equally based in a research methodology, representing a chance to publish cutting edge research in a short form. The position paper does not require an abstract and can be submitted directly. However, we encourage authors in this category to submit an abstract in advance as well in order to allow faster editorial decisions. They are reviewed directly by the editors and presented to the editorial board before acceptance.
3) Conversation
The conversation format ranges between 6.000 and 10.000 characters and invites written interviews and edited spoken interviews between researchers reflecting on current research or contrasting different positions. Conversations between disciplines are especially encouraged. The conversation format does not require an abstract and can be submitted directly. However, we encourage authors in this category to submit an abstract in advance as well in order to allow faster editorial decisions. They are reviewed directly by the editors and presented to the editorial board before acceptance.
4) Practice Report
This unique format ranges between 6.000 and 10.000 characters and invites scientists, designers, architects, artists and other practitioners to reflect and situate their practice, with a special focus on how it goes beyond disciplinary boundaries. The conversation format does not require an abstract and can be submitted directly. However, we encourage authors in this category to submit an abstract in advance as well in order to allow faster editorial decisions. They are reviewed directly by the editors and presented to the editorial board before acceptance.
○ Abstract
In order to make the submission process more transparent for authors and to allow the editors more freedom in editing coherent issues, authors submitting a full article are required to submit a short abstract on their article (max.500 words), based on which authors will be invited to submit a full manuscript. Authors submitting Position Papers, Conversations or Practice Report are not required to submit an abstract and can submit their manuscript directly, the acceptance of which will be decided by the editors. Still, we encourage authors of said categories to submit an abstract in advance as well, if their manuscript is not written yet in order to allow faster editorial decisions.
