In a moment where futures are distributed unevenly and narratives hijacked by the western gaze, Arab Futurism is emerging as a question and a movement that interrogates historical narratives; a reflection on what is, was and could be. Situated within this framework, this project is a language-based exploration of arab visual culture and imagination which aims to contribute to a counterculture of thought, expression of identity. Inspired by works by Etal Adnan, Fritz Leiber and Reza Negarestani, it creates an interactive semi-encrypted plane where chronological time shrinks to the momentary, unchronological now where past-present-future historical narratives can be interrogated, neither utopian or dystopian, where cities disintegrate and technology melts into spiders and peals.
