The goal of this project was to investigate the role of seaweed as a major player in the realm of non-traditional, future oriented aquaculture. By exploring four key aspects of seaweed, namely cultivation and harvesting, business and distribution, contextual rele- vance and future promise, and uses and applications, this project sought to create an accessible framework which can later be used to more easily identify opportunities for future design interventions. A comprehensive visual diagram was created as a way of organizing the complex systems related to seaweed, in order to visualize current farming practices, applications, business ecosystems, and environmental relevance.
