Sound/thesis: Modular Sound Synthesis Workshop
Join our workshop Sound/thesis: Modular Sound Synthesis Workshop with VCV RackLed by Eman Safavi on Monday, 26 May 2025 between 11:00–17:00 (with a 1-hour break) in our Studio and on Livestream: stream.udk-berlin.de
This one-day workshop offers an introduction to modular sound synthesis using VCV Rack, a free and powerful virtual modular synthesizer. Tailored for beginners and intermediate users, the session covers key aspects of modular patching, signal flow, sound generation, and recording techniques.
Participants will also explore how to integrate VCV Rack with digital audio workstations such as Ableton Live or Reaper.By the end of the workshop, attendees will have a functional understanding of subtractive synthesis, the ability to create and record modular patches, and a template for continued experimentation.Requirements:Participants must bring a laptop (Windows or macOS) and headphones. If you are unable to bring equipment, please note this in your registration.
Registration for UdK students: inkuele@intra.udk-berlin.de
Include your full name, semester, study program, and a brief statement of interest.
Eman Safavi is a student in the master’s program Design & Computation (UdK/TU Berlin).
With a background in chemical engineering and a focus on electronic music, generative sound, and interactive installation, his interdisciplinary practice integrates music, technology, and design to explore new forms of sonic expression.
