Unspin the data!

Different approaches lead to different outcomes. How do methods inform work processes? In this edition of the Loops event series Giacomo Nanni and Julian Peschel will take us on a ride through their diverse set of projects. Their work spans across information design, investigative research and journalism, utilizing computational tools to extract narratives and reflect on media and information politics as well as hidden infrastructures.

The audience can intervene in the discussion by a button-press which will spin the fortune wheel of projects

___

Giacomo Nanni (IT, 1994) lives and works in Berlin. His work moves across information design, investigative research and computation, mainly focusing on how digital systems, archives and data infrastructures shape contemporary realities. Julian Peschel (DE, 1993) is an information designer focusing on geospatial narratives. Working at the intersection of journalism, GIS, and design, he uses satellite data to investigate and visualize spatial relationships and hidden infrastructures, while also reflecting on their phenomenological dimension as operational images and narrative media. He is currently part of the data journalism team at Deutsche Welle, develops projects as part of the media NGO Froh!, and shares his interests through teaching and workshops.
