Designing Relational Space - Paper presentation at Nordes Design Conference 2025
Research associate and PhD candidate Johannes Pointner presented our latest paper “Designing Relational Space: Towards Adaptive and Interactive Learning Environments” at Relational Design, the 11th Nordes Design Conference in Oslo, co-authored with Prof. Albert Lang.
The paper introduces the experimental learning and research space of New Practice in Art and Technology, designed as a radically participatory environment. Everything in the space — from physical elements to digital tools and hybrid setups like digital twins — can be rearranged on the spot to respond to emerging needs, turning interaction into a living condition of the space.
Johannes also joined inspiring discussions with fellow researchers, including a session chaired by Mari Suoheimo and a talk by Maiju Suomi on relational space in architecture.
A big thanks Prof. Albert Lang, Johannes Pointner and Christian Schröder for leading the project, and to Stifterverband for supporting it through their Raumlabore programme.
